Nerol

Nerol is a sweet, rose-citrus monoterpene alcohol. The name comes from neroli, the orange-blossom oil used in perfume. Rose and citrus peel are the outside-flower references.

Nerolidol is the longer, softer sesquiterpene with a similar first syllable. Nerol is the smaller alcohol. A panel that prints both is listing two compounds. The trans-nerolidol page covers the sesquiterpene.

On a cannabis sheet nerol is uncommon. When it prints, it is that orange-blossom alcohol, not a second nerolidol.

Nerol and geraniol are built from the same atoms. They differ only in the shape around one double bond: nerol is the cis form and geraniol is the trans form. Chemistry references sometimes call nerol cis-geraniol for that reason. Geraniol is the rosier of the two, and nerol is the fresher, more orange-blossom one. A panel that prints both is listing two lines, not one compound twice.

Outside cannabis, nerol is described in neroli oil, rose oil, and hops. On a cannabis lab sheet it sits in the monoterpene alcohol part of the list, usually near linalool and geraniol, and it is often a small number or not reported at all.
