Cedrol
Cedrol is a cedarwood alcohol. The smell is dry, pencil-shaving cedar, softer than the sharp camphor of fenchone. Cedar oil from Cedrus and related junipers is where perfumers met it first. The name is the wood.
It is a sesquiterpene alcohol, heavier than the pinene that people also call pine. Pinene is the bright needle note. Cedrol is the box the pencils came in. Labs sometimes print it beside cedrene, the hydrocarbon with the same cedar root. Those are two lines.
On a cannabis sheet cedrol is a minor woody mark when it appears at all. A cedar line does not place the cut in a family. It tells you the panel caught that wood note.
Related terpenes: Guaiol, Caryophyllene, Humulene, Pinene
