CBG

CBG is cannabigerol. It is the non-acid form of CBGA, the compound the plant makes first and then converts into other cannabinoids.

Young plants and certain cultivars show higher CBG before the plant converts most of it into THCA, CBDA, or other acids. Once those conversions happen, the remaining CBG is what remains measurable. Labs report both the acid form and the neutral form when levels are detectable.

In reference material CBG is noted mainly for its place in the biosynthetic path. It is the precursor, not one of the dominant final products in most mature flower. This page covers the name, the relationship to CBGA, and how both appear on standard lab reports.
